I have had a more difficult time getting used to leaving Daylight savings time than the 6 hours time change from NC to Spain.
Bald cypress is well into the fall color and needle drop. A conifer that becomes "bald", since I live with these, I forget how unusual these trees really are.

In my community garden a killdeer is nesting. The nest is on the ground and the gardeners have put signs and markers up so that the bird will not be bothered. The person who has the plot next to the nest has abandoned their plot for now.
I took these photos yesterday, getting no closer than the distance the bird starts to give the warning pip. I also saw this bird give the broken wing act at some distance from the nest in order to decoy away from the nest.
